Jancis Robinson described the 2005 vintage as ""big-shouldered"" in Champagne and ""a quite exceptionally good vintage"" in Burgundy, and indeed, this year produced remarkable wines across France. These wines seemed to take a long time to mature, but now, with nearly two decades in the bottle, their grandeur can finally be appreciated.
