Interview with Michel Lafarge

This interview with the legendary winemaker and titan of Volnay Michel Lafarge was captured during the 2019 harvest.
Daniel Johnnes speaks with Michel about the evolution of Burgundy, harvest memories, and more. Michel passed away in January 2020. This film debuted at La Paulée de New York on March 6, 2020, when it was shown during a seminar and tasting of the Lafarge family’s celebrated monopole vineyard Clos du Château des Ducs with Frédéric, Chantal, and Clothilde Lafarge.

Interview and tasting with Pierre & Anne Morey
focusing on Meursault-Perrières

Pierre Morey is a master of the Côte de Beaune, and talks about growing up in Burgundy, his relationship with the Lafon and Leflaive families, establishing his own domaine and négoce, and passing the torch to his daughter Anne.

Daniel and Max were in Burgundy to film this interview right in the middle of the oppressive heat wave in July 2019 that swept over almost all of France. Pierre & Anne Morey advised that we start to film in the vineyards no later than 8am to avoid the worst of the heat. Still, after an hour and a half, it was starting to become sweltering. Descending into the cellar afterwards brought welcome relief, not only because of the cool temperature, but also because Anne generously brought out a Perrières 1976 for us to taste - quite a treat at 10am!
