Domaine Dujac Dinner
Thursday, December 12 | 6:30pm
Gabriel Kreuther | 41 W 42nd St, New York, NY 10036
$5,500 | $4,950 for Club Members
In 1968, Burgundy saw the birth of a domaine that quickly became iconic. When Jacques Seysses created Domaine Dujac, his inspiration came from the greatest Burgundy producers he had the opportunity to meet and learn from. Among these legends, Gérard Potel of Domaine de la Pousse d'Or significantly influenced Jacques, a devotee of whole-cluster fermentation. A gradual transition to his two sons and the wife of his eldest began in 1998. Since then, the domaine not only retained its remarkable status but gained even more accolades. This dinner is an ode to one of the Grands Crus Dujac has been crafting since its inception: Clos Saint-Denis. The domaine's plot, just over one hectare, is a benchmark in all of Burgundy for both aging potential and class.

It is difficult to find out what makes the wines from a domaine like Coche-Dury so sublime. The yields are not particularly low, and the winemaking is traditional. The elevage is quite long but other Meursault producers follow the same regime and don’t get the same result. What makes Coche-Dury such a cult domaine resides in winemaker Jean-François Coche’s painstaking attention to details, from the vineyard to the winery.
We are delighted to host this beautiful dinner entirely dedicated to the white wines of the famed domaine with highlights from the 1990’s and even a vertical of 1er Cru Perrières back to 1989.

Gevrey-Chambertin, the mythical village of the northern Côte de Nuits, has been home to exquisite vineyards since Roman times. This is where Pinot Noir finds its most brooding and powerful voice in all Burgundy. The intricate topography around the village offers a deeply educational study of the appellation so we have chosen different angles for this Apéro. First, we will explore verticals of vintages to showcase the impact of the year on a given vineyard, tended by the same producer. We will also taste a few superb examples of wines made around the famous Combe de Lavaux, including the one and only "Clos-Saint-Jacques". And finally, we will delight the attendees with three Grand Cru bottlings from top producers.

Each year in Burgundy, the weather determines the style of the vintage. Heavy rains or punishing frost episodes can reduce yields dramatically but also test vignerons' skills while ideal weather conditions may also give birth to exceptional harvests.
We are extremely lucky to be working with producers who are able to offer the most authentic image of the terroir no matter what nature brings.
